The new sozusagen is on its way and we are looking for your contributions! In the summer semester 2018 an exciting new edition of the sozusagen awaits you. It will be about the terms „decision“ and „coercion“. How do we make decisions? Are you forced to make decisions? Is it possible to make a decision without coercion?
When are we controlled by others or self-determined? When and why do social norms limit our choices? In how far can you resist coercion? People are often forced to decide in society. For example, to identify with a certain gender. Data is also stored without consent. And try taking your bag into the library.
Society is full of decisions and constraints. You can find them everywhere: in political freedom ideals and elections, consumption and the mass of opportunities, student life and work, travel and internationality, life and love.
We welcome any kind of contribution, including scientific essays, contributions from university groups, book reviews, poems, comics and cartoons. And also anything else that you can think of. We are not only looking for scientific contributions, but also opinion pieces and journalistic essays! You can write a piece in English or German. Depending on the format you want to submit, the desired number of words varies. For example, we are looking for essays with around 1,500 words. Please submit your first draft by the 18th of December 2017.
We are also looking forward to receiving contributions that do not fit the topic „Decision“ and „Coercion“.
Please send us your first draft by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
Also send us an e-mail if you have any questions or ideas!
Guidelines for contributions in sozusagen
